Freshly arrived in Paris after graduation, I have now been working in the EFL sector in Paris for 18 years, initially as a teacher trainer and then as Director of Studies in a language school.
After an attempted career change in 2008 which turned out to be far too sales oriented for me, I went back to my centre of expertise in 2009 - EFL teaching - as an auto-entrepreneur. I took the time to research the type of work I was looking for, and I now juggle a university, a small language contractor, and my own private clients.
I have been told my French is pretty fluent, but I had trouble understanding all the information available on the auto-entrepreneur status, made more complicated by certain employers not fully understanding all the details themselves. It has led to hours spent on the internet trying to find answers to my questions.
Then, once I was up and running, I had many enquiries from friends and former colleagues on just how this A-E status works.
